St Mary’s church, Grade I
listed, built by Sir Hugh Hastings, c.1340 is one of the finest examples
of the Decorated Period in Norfolk. The pillar-less nave, at nearly 40ft is
one of the widest of any parish church. In 2002 the PCC raised £40,000 for
major roof
repairs.
A magnificent brass to the founder, who died in 1347, shows small representations of some of his pallbearers, including Edward III, on either side of the armoured figure.

There is a former mill by the river, a pub and a fine new village hall close to the church. A Millenium Walk was designed in 2000 and takes a figure of eight around the village of approx. 5 miles. Elsing Hall on the outskirts is a picturesque timbered mansion. The gardens are sometimes open to the public at the weekend during the summer. There is a village cricket pitch at the Hall.
