ST THOMAS CHURCH, FOXLEY
Harvest Festival
Alan Cunnington preached his final sermon at Foxley on Sunday 15th September.  All that we need in this life, he said, comes from God, and we in turn must respond with equal generosity and trust.
St Thomas’ was as usual beautifully decorated and the congregation had indeed been generous with God’s gifts, as everywhere amongst the flowers were fruit and vegetables, which will be donated to Reepham Day Centre.
At the end of the service John Harvey, churchwarden, paid tribute to the splendid example of a life dedicated to the service of our Lord which Alan, supported by his wife Jean had given us.  Providing for the spiritual needs of the parishes had been a demanding task to which the Cunningtons had responded with total commitment.  Mr Harvey wished them a happy and contented retirement.  Reciprocating, Alan spoke of the friendship he and Jean had experienced and thanked the regular members of the congregation for their help and support.
A sociable ½ hour followed with wine and ‘nibbles’, during which a toast was drunk to Alan and Jean.

New Kneelers
Thank you to the 14 people from Foxley, Bawdeswell and Billingford who have offered to work a tapestry kneeler for St Thomas’.  We do appreciate this response which will give the project a good start.  We are at the planning stage looking at designs and colours appropriate for the church.  We hope to have these plans ready in the near future.
There may be some of you reading this who are unable to work a kneeler yourself, but would like to be involved by contributing towards the cost.  This could be in memory of a family member or friend.  We plan to have a permanent label on each one, recording the names of the person who worked it, the donor and the one to whom it has been dedicated.
For further information please contact Diana Harvey (01362) 688650 or Monica Hatch (01362) 688316.

Illustrated Talk
Peter Bradbury will be giving an Illustrated Talk on local village history, architecture and floral arrangements at St Thomas’, and also memories of the Open Gardens days.  The time and venue will be 22nd November at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.  Try and not miss it!
