The special service, kindly hosted by Bawdeswell Church, to celebrate 15 years of activity in this area, was very enjoyable and much enhanced by the presence of the Iceni choir with their conductor, James Lilwall, at the organ and their excellent soloist. The Regional Fund–Raising Manager, Peter Neale, attended and gave the address, explaining to us, in particular, the work done by the society to help runaway children. Afterwards Mr. Neale was delighted to recruit 8 new housebox holders to add to the 40 or so already on our list. So far these generous people and other events such as the annual coffee mornings have contributed well over £15000 to the society’s funds not counting local Christingles, special collections and so on. In to-day’s terms, only a modest amount, but if all the parishes/benefices in the land did the same, think of the difference it would make! Our children are our future and they all deserve a chance of a decent life. Sadly, many don’t and helping them is what the Society is all about.
