BECK WI
June Baker, our speaker for September, was welcomed to the meeting by Aleathia. We were then shown some very interesting shots taken in the U.A.E. and Dubai when June and her husband were on holiday there earlier this year.
The tall buildings were fantastic and one soon got used to seeing a mosque (sometimes two) in quite a number of the slides. Not that all the shots were of buildings. We saw many different views; a mountainous area with mountains formed of layers of rock, miles of sand dunes, and then local markets with their very colourful displays. Some really lovely slides.
June judged the postcards taken in by members. Ist Mary, 2nd Gill. The raffle was won by Sheila. Jennifer read last month's minutes and Aleathia got us up-to-date with the various mailshots received.
At the October meeting our speaker is Jon Read and the subject - Tales of the Gas Works. Hope to see you all at Sparham's Old School Room on Monday 8th at 7.30 p.m. The exhibit is a single bloom.
